"The Shadow of the Photographer" a presentation by Rutherford In addition to family and holiday snapshots many of us also photograph "things", often without knowing why something attracted our attention. This talk will suggest that when we are moved to photograph a scene or moment with which we have no personal connection it may be that we have intuitively recognized a memory or belief lying below our our conscious awareness but which our unconscious is now trying to bring to our attention. It is suggested that what we photograph and the way we photograph it can provide valuable insights into our subconscious, the way we see ourselves, providing a trustworthy and compassionate companion on the road to discover, and to become, who we really are. Remember Rutherford's invigorating talk last March - expect another insightful and thought provoking presentation! Our speaker is Programme Leader in MA Advertising at Bournemouth
MONTHLY MEETING All the latest news on the programme of classes and social events, members comments. "Vivaldi: a man for Four Seasons" Presentation by Peter Edwards Vivaldi is undoubtedly most famously known for his composition "The Four Seasons" written some 300 years ago. However, this particular work consisted of just four concertos out of over 500 concertos that he wrote along with many other types of musical composition. What aspects of his life encouraged such a seemingly inexhaustible output? As a virtuoso violinist why was he known as "The Red Pries"? Why is he known as a "Baroque" composer? Why was so much of his work virtually unknown from the time of his death until the second half of the twentieth century? This illustrated presentation will include excerpts from some of his most notable compositions. Our speaker was formerly a lecturer at Bournemouth University.
Admission £1 members, £1.50 non members, including refreshments.
